EMAN Tree Recycling Service to Return

The community group is planning to continue its 2012 holiday tree disposal service.

The East Mt. Airy Neighbors plan to run it's annual tree recycling program after the holidays in early 2013, the group confirmed at its meeting on Tuesday night.

The program, which is in its second year, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. Residents can bring their trees and have them disposed of for $5. The event will likely be held at Gabbie's Community Garden .

According to Elayne Bender with EMAN, the 2012 recycling event was a positive in its first year.

"Last year, we saved over 200 trees," she said. "What's nice about it is that it brings in a small amount of money [to EMAN} and we got send out some mulch to the community gardens."

The group will release a full announcement about the event in the coming weeks.
