Fall fun is in full swing with these day trips to a Malvern Festival and Bark in the Park, plus Hawk Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary

Malvern Fall Festival and Bark in the Park

Hours: Sunday, Sept. 30, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Summary: Hosted by the Malvern Business and Professional Association, the Fall Festival and Bark in the Park is a day filled with vendors, music, food and children's activities. There will be 150 vendors and dogs are welcome. One section of the park will include pet-related vendors, including rescue services and shelters. A beer garden will be sponsored by The Flying Pig Saloon and The Chatterband will perform on the main stage from 1 to 4 p.m.

Hawk Mountain Sanctuary

Address: 1700 Hawk Mountain Road, Kempton, Pa.

Hours: Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. September-November (check website for other months)

Admission: 

  • Autumn Weekends (September-November) and National Holidays: $8 adults & seniors, $4 children 6-12
  • Regular: $6 adults, $5 seniors, $3 children 6-12, Free for children 5 and younger

Summary: Hawk Mountain is a 2,600-acre wildlife sanctuary open year round with eight miles of trails for superb hiking in any season. It's one of the best places in North America to view the annual autumn hawk migration and was recently named one of the top 10 places to watch raptors by Audubon magazine. Hawk Mountain's website offers daily updates of wildlife sightings. The sanctuary includes a visitors center and bookshop, as well as a native plant garden.

I second that advice about not leaving valuables in your car. There are thieves who hang out onRead More Northwestern Ave near Brunos and watch people park and go walk. I locked the car but they jimmied the rubber strip along the door window. My dark purse was on the floor in back. They left the purse and my ID and the cash, hoping that I would not miss my credit cards for a few hours. Luckily, I noticed--but not before they had gone on a wild $1500 shopping spree! The spree started very shortly after I left the car, so I know they had watched me. Creepy....Zeta Cross
