Following up on 9 months of preparation, Mutual Mt. Airy is ready to formally enroll members.

Mutual Mt. Airy is about aging in community: creating the strong social bonds that enhance the quality of life through mutual aid; providing connections to services, connections to people, connections to mobility and access. Open to all in the area, not just Mt. Airy, the group is exploring options, ways and means to extend and enhance independent living right here where we have built lives for ourselves.

At the Sept 30th meeting we will bring folks up to date on all the progress our Working Group and other volunteers have made in the past months. Anyone interested will hear a progress report, learn about interest groups, services, membership terms and benefits - for example:

  • Mutual interests, social connections

Shared meals, Theatre/entertainment activities,

Social Issues Discussion, Nature Walks, Environmental Issues....

  • Mutual aid for household needs of living in place.

Drivers club, shopping, pet sitting, house sitting, assistance in household chores

Plumber/electrician/mason, etc. on retainer for group members. Tie-ins with groups such as Weavers Way and My Way

Mutual Mt. Airy is now a nonprofit organization under the Mt. Airy Community Services Corporation; our by-laws and founding documents will be available at the meeting. Mutual Mt. Airy also is a member of the Village to Village Network, a national organization of over one hundred aging in community organizations across in the U.S. And Canada.
