Pre Professional Dance Training
Dance Training Program The Canaan Conservatory for Arts and Music is a Pre-Professional Training Program designed for all young people. We offer the groundwork for aspiring students to enter the professional training programs worldwide and ultimately pursue careers in dance and music. Students are placed in appropriate levels for maximum development. Classes for students ages 4-6 are in preparation for ballet, with a focus on creative movement and basic classroom etiquette. Students ages 7-10 in levels I, & II are required to take one, mandatory ballet class each week. Students can also choose to take a class in Tap, Jazz, Modern, Dunham. Hip Hop and Praise. Students in Level III are required to take a minimum of 2, two hour classes per week of ballet during the fall and spring semesters and a minimum of 2 hours per day in the summer intensive program.
Private Lessons Private lessons are available for voice, piano, percussion, and violin Private lessons are held weekly.Voice- will consist primarily of private vocal coaching. These coaching sessions will focus on breathing technique, phrasing, enunciation, pronunciation, passion, inflection, stage presence, delivery, connecting mind body and soul and over all artistry. These aspects are all main arteries of singing which lead to the heart of the song, ultimately resulting in the proper execution of such. Piano- lessons are for beginning students only. These lessons will consist of basic piano skills; note reading, note value, rhythm, time signature, key signature, notation and sight reading. These skills will enable the student to look at a piece of music, easily identify its contents, and play it. Violin Certified Suzuki Instructor, For Students Ages 5 to Adult The Suzuki Method emphasizes ear training and parent involvement. While group sessions offer atmosphere and support, private study allows the instructor to focus solely on one student. Private study develops not only reading and playing skills but will strongly influence style. Dundun There are two primary playing styles for dunduns. The traditional style has each player using a single drum resting on its side.
