The fund-raiser includes an Auction &\; Pre Concert Reception\, 6:00- 7:30\, followed by a concert from 8:00 to 10:00 PM\, tickets are $ 25.00 per person and includes\, concert\, auction and pre-concert recept ion. Tickets are $22.50 for Mexican Cultural Center members.\n \;\nT hat evening\, Cascarones Por La Vida in partnership with several Philade lphia based arts organizations\, including The Mexican Cultural Center\, Taller\, Fleisher\, and Casa de Duende\, will present the San Antonio b ased artist\, actor\, playwright and musician\, José\; Rubé\ ;n De Leó\;n. De Leó\;n will perform a one night only benefi t concert featuring the music of the great Mexican composer\, Augustin L ara. Proceeds from the concert will go towards funding for both the Work ing Fund for Artists with AIDS at the Fleisher Art Memorial and for Casc arones Por La Vida\, administered by the Philadelphia Foundation in part nership with the Philadelphia Museum of Art.\nSince 1992\, actor-playwri ght-musician José\; Rubé\;n De Leó\;n has created and performed one-man sacred dramas &ndash\; Mark&rsquo\;s Gospel: A Drama o f Hope\; St. Francis of Assisi: A Musical\; and El Encuentro: Juan Diego and the Virgen de Guadalupe. LORCA\, a one-man drama based on the life and work of Spain's best-known poet\, Federico Garcí\;a Lorca\, re ceived critical acclaim and was named one of San Antonio's best shows of 2003 (SA Express-News). De Leó\;n's SIMPLEMENTE LARA\, a tribute to the life and music of Mexican composer Agustí\;n Lara\, premier ed at Jump-Start Performance Co. in San Antonio\, Texas and was named on e of the best shows of 2005 (SA Express-News). In May 2007\, he received a Heritage Award by the Webb County Heritage Foundation for "outstandin g work in preserving the musical heritage of the region as evidenced in SIMPLEMENTE LARA."\nDe Leó\;n began his theatrical career in his h ometown\, Laredo\, Texas. He served as Artistic Administrator and Direct or for the Laredo Little Theatre. He is curre ntly a campus minister and liturgy coordinator at Our Lady of the Lake U niversity.\nThe Working Fund administered by the Fleisher Art Memorial s upports artists affected by HIV/AIDS through small grants for art suppli es and Cascarones Por La Vida\, supports artist residencies through the Philadelphia Foundation and the Philadelphia Museum of Art\, (PMA) allow ing artists to work with youth whose lives have been impacted by HIV/AID S so as to provide and support art education projects. Working with The Philadelphia Museum of Art's Education Department\, funds raised will as sist artists residency programs\, outreach and support for children and teenage students affected by HIV/AIDS in their pursuit of art education. Past recipient of this art fund have been clients from the Children's H ospital of Philadelphia and individual artists living with HIV.
