Last Sunday's coastal storm and its resulting hangover of cool weather in our region resulted in eight straight below average days through yesterday, which is the longest stretch of below average temperatures we've seen since the end of October. This stretch of March-like cool has about one more day in it before we have a quick rebound in weather as the pattern shifts, rather markedly, Monday night.
A warm front will lift through the region on Monday night, spreading some showers and storms through the region as it passes through. The forecast for Tuesday features optimistic highs in the upper half of the 70s based on an early departure of rainfall and the return of sunshine. That said, if clouds linger and the warm front doesn't push north far enough, temperatures will end up a good bit cooler. Tuesday arguably shapes up as the toughest day to forecast from a temperature standpoint.
The rest of the week has its own share of issues from the standpoint of predicting showers and thunderstorms but with a warmer airmass in place temperatures will be much more typical of late Spring than what we saw last week. We take temperatures down a tiny bit on Wednesday with some oceanic influence in the airmass but then warm it back up on Thursday and Friday. Highs in the lower and even middle 80's look likely for both days as we get into a ridge of high pressure aloft in the atmosphere. With a warmer and more unstable airmass in place we could see some scattered storms around from time to time—best chances of these would be in the afternoon hours should they occur.
A weak front moves into and stalls nearby for the weekend, again with a chance of thunder at times this weekend. Not all of this timeframe will feature thunderstorm activity but there will be a few chances of showers and storms here and there over the course of the next week.
