A nice little anecdote on a lovely community event. It took me a while, clicking on an out-going hyperlink and the Open Street Map, to realize this had taken place in the Mount Airy area of Philadelphia. The 2nd Annual Lovett Memorial Scholastic Mini Chess Tournament looks fun from the photo coverage, with very young kids engrossed in chess games. Though, I’m wondering if the photos are from this year’s event coverage or from the previous, inaugural edition of this chess tournament. Also, it would be nice to hear how the kids felt about the chess tournament, or what piqued their interest in chess at such a young age. In the first photo, they look fairly old. Are you sure they are only entering Grade 12 at the maximum? The chess pieces look quite big in the last photo. Are they wooden chess pieces?
