Wednesdays will be dog days this August as Weavers Way’s new “Across the Way” store presents Doggy Happy Hour from 5 to 8 p.m. Each Wednesday, dogs and their people can meet up with like-minded humans and canines, share cold beverages and food, and meet with dog trainers and behaviorists, who will share their expertise on what drives the functioning of our furry friends.
The series kicks off Wednesday, August 1, with certified dog trainer Elizabeth Bradley, who will take questions from dog people, and will discuss various topics, including the special challenges faced by dog owners who are, or are considering, raising chickens. Bradley is also the owner/operator of Lucky Dogz Doggie Daycare in Wyndmoor, PA. Dog treats will be provided by Lucky Dog treats (no relation), the Willow Grove, PA-based maker of premium, natural dog treats. Lucky Dog treats are made with organic ingredients, with no preservatives, chemicals, or artificial flavors, and colors derived from fruit and vegetable powders and natural plant dyes. Lucky Dog supports local farmers and attempts to purchase most ingredients locally.
The series continues on August 8, with Leigh Siegfried from Opportunity Barks, who will field pet-related behavior and training questions, and will also present a demonstration of "nose work"—using scent to have fun with your dog, including a game you can play at home. Annamaet Pet Foods will also be on hand, with samples and information about their products. On August 15, in honor of Superhero Week, bring your dog in their favorite superhero costume!
