Woodmere Applies for Grant to Build Sculpture Garden

The grant would help the Woodmere Art Museum restore the 6-acre site and install a sculpture garden.

The Woodmere Art Museum received an endorsement from the Chestnut Hill Community Association on a grant application that would help create a world-class sculpture garden on the museum grounds.

The grant money would come from the state, and it would help to restore and improve the museum’s 6-acre site.

Not only would the museum use the money to install a sculpture garden, but the museum would also replace impervious surfaces on walkways and parking lots with pervious surface to help fix water runoff problems.

Money from the grant would also be used to restore the estate by removing unwanted plant life such as brambles and restoring the 19th-century stone stable that would be used as education space.

At the center of all this would be a brand new sculpture garden that would include amenities such as seating, walking paths, lighting and signage.

The grant would also provide the museum with the opportunity to install a “significant water feature” that was designed by artist Harry Bertoia.
