Election Day will happen Nov. 6. While it's every citizens own choice who to vote for—or whether to vote at all—some organizations may close or alter their schedules due to the election.
Here's a look at some services and how they are impacted by the Tuesday general election.
Schools
The School District of Philadelphia is closed Tuesday to students, as many schools serve as polling places. However, the day is an inservice for faculty and staff.
Municipal Services
Government offices are open.
Trash collection still occurs.
The United States Post Office is open and mail will be delivered.
The Free Library of Philadelphia is open.

At Walk a Crooked Mile Books, in the Mt. Airy Train Station at Gowen and Devon, we are extending our hours to open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 8:30 p.m. so we can host a VOTING CANTEEN where we offer a free hot or cold drink to anyone who is on the way to the polls or who has already voted. We are grateful that so many folks in this neighborhood take voting seriously and this is our way of saying thanks.
