West Mt. Airy: "Hot, Up-and-Coming Neighborhood?"
Half of Mt. Airy was discussed as one of the city's in-demand places in 2013.
Though this might come as no surprise to the residents of West Mt. Airy, that neighborhood is predicted to become quite the hot spot in 2013.
By the calculus of the real estate mavens over at Redfin (via Philly.curbed.com), West Mt. Airy was targeted as one "of a handful of neighborhoods that [are] suspected to see a surge of activity" in 2013.
The bad news: West Mt. Airy wasn't named the "The No.1 Hottest Up-and-Coming Neighborhood." Our buddies over in Phoenixville were given that distinction, despite them, you know, not being a city neighborhood.
The kind-of good news: West Germantown came in as the third hottest city neighborhood.
Read the Philly.curbed.com story here, or swing by Redfin for their explanation of the rankings.

Why is it "kind-of" good news that West Germantown came in 3rd? That's fantastic news!! Go Germantown! You have so much to offer on a national scale with the amazing history you have to tell.

As a resident PROUD resident of Germantown, and teacher of many of its students...I find your kind of comment SAD...even if said in jest. What is good for Germantown is good for Mt. Airy. I hope readers have good enough sense to know that.

The comment of "kind of good news" is very sad and perhaps the writer should have cheered that Northwest Philadelphia as a whole is a place on the rise. We need to come together and embrace what was once all Germantown and work together to celebrate what makes all these neighborhoods special and use that continues success to work on improving the issues that plague sections rather than dismissing them as another neighborhood. The key word is NEIGHBOR!
