The Trolley Car Diner is one of six nation-wide semifinalists in Independent We Stand’s 2012 Independent Small Business of the Year (“The Indie”) Award.

Independent We Stand (sponsored by Stihl), a country-wide coalition of consumers and locally-owned businesses promoting the social and economic benefits of buying local, looks to award independent businesses that go the extra mile for their customers or provide help to the community.

Trolley Car Diner is featured alongside businesses in Virginia, North Carolina, California, Michigan, and Florida.

Independent We Stand cites Trolley Car Diner for its weekly donations to local organizations, help with community service projects and events, and its habit of purchasing locally grown produce.

Prizes for the finalist include a new custom website, a vacation package, and a special plaque.

Nominations for the six semifinalists were concluded on August 17, and voting for the winner is now underway. Trolley Car fans have until September 7 to cast their votes, and the winner will be announced on September 10.
