A large yellow highway roller* was on Gowen Avenue on Sunday morning to smooth out the road that had been torn up because of street work.
Thanks to reader Carl Bennett, who snapped these photos and sent them in.
Gowen isn't the only street that hasn't been fully formed in East Mt. Airy in recent weeks. Portions of Ardleigh Street were also torn up in preparation for new pavement to be laid there in the future.
*Correction: The original version of this article said the machine on Gowen Avenue was a steamroller. As commenter Ed G. pointed out, steamrollers haven't been around for some time—sorry for the mistake.

At any rate, it's good to see the work proceeding. It has been five weeks since the streets were milled.
