After two days being shut down by Hurricane Sandy, public and parochial schools will reopen Wednesday.
The Archdioceses of Philadelphia and the School District of Philadelphia announced Tuesday afternoon that city schools are ready to teach students Oct. 31.
"Archdiocesan high schools and parish elementary schools in the city of Philadelphia will re-open on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 on a normal schedule," spokesperson Kenneth Gavin said.
However, that's not an across the board opening for Catholic schools.
"Decisions regarding the re-opening of Archdiocesan high schools and parish elementary schools in the suburban counties are made on the local level. School families in those areas should check normal communication channels to see if their school is re-opening tomorrow."
Fernando Gallard, spokesperson for Philadelphia public schools, also said normal schedules will be in effect. However, some transportation issues could exist.
"The District does anticipate that some yellow school buses may be delayed in the morning as school buses deal with road conditions. The District urges parents, staff and the general public to monitor the District’s website at www.philasd.org for individual school and program notifications," he said.
As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, no more detailed information existed.
