Police Blotter: Vodka Stolen From State Store

The following information was supplied by the Philadelphia Police Department. The arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

 

Here's 14th Police District news from the past week or two. All of the following allegations have been documented according to information provided by police:

Home being renovated broken into: Police said a home being renovated on the 100 block of East Sedgwick Street was broken into May 28 and that dishes, kitchen items and a drill were taken.

Handicap placard taken: Police said a handicap placard was taken from a car broken into on the 7300 block of Germantown Avenue May 30.

Ladder used in break-in: Police said a person climbed a ladder to break in to a home on the 400 block of Wellesley Road May 28 and said $1,000 in cash, gold earrings and rings, a Fossil watch and a checkbook were taken.

$20 taken from car: Police said a car was broken into on the 6400 block of Greene Street May 30 and said $20 in cash was taken.

Man assaulted by group: A man told police he was assaulted by a group of men—one of whom had a gun—on the 6600 block of Chew Avenue May 30 before he was able to notify police, who arrested one of the offenders.

Items taken from apartment: Police said a fire safe, $2,700 in cash and other items were taken from an apartment on the 500 block of Carpenter Lane May 30 after it was broken into.

Vodka stolen from state store: Police said a man stole a half-gallon of Absolut Vodka from the Pennsylvania Wine & Spirits store at 7204 Germantown Ave. Saturday before heading southbound on the Avenue from there.

Bike taken: A woman told police someone took her grandson's bicycle when it was parked in front of her front hall on the 700 block of Vernon Road May 25.

Woman assaulted: A woman told police she went to pick up her son from his father's house on the 1200 block of Yerkes Street Thursday when the father became abusive, punching her and cutting her with a glass object (there was glass strewn on the ground at the scene, according to police). Police said the man was gone when they arrived.

Woman punched in the street: Police said a woman was found laying down in the street after having been punched by a man on the 6700 block of Germantown Avenue Thursday; the woman told police the man (with whom she was not involved romantically) had picked her up and slammed her down to the ground.

Bike taken from porch: Police said a bicycle was taken from a porch on the 7100 block of Bryan Street Friday.

Items taken from home: Police said a television, an XBox and a computer were taken from a home on the unit block of West Sharpnack Street Sunday; there was no sign of forced entry.
