Police Blotter: $20K in Clothing, Jewelry Taken From Apartment
The following information was supplied by the Philadelphia Police Department. The arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate a conviction.
Here's 14th Police District news from the past week or two. All of the following allegations have been documented according to information provided by police:
Boy beaten after disagreement over sugary cereal: Police said a father beat his son on the 500 block of East Gorgas Lane Sunday after a disagreement over the amount of sugar the son was putting into his cereal; they said the son was beaten until he was unable to move. Police said the boy was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center and said the father left the boy's mother a voicemail saying the child was beaten.
Over $20,000 in items taken: Police said over $20,000 in jewelry and clothing were taken from an apartment on the 6300 block of Greene Street while a person was sleeping there.
PECO meter stolen: Police said a PECO meter was stolen from a home on the unit block of East Johnson Street Monday.
Purple wallet taken from car: Police said a car window was broken when it was parked on the 7200 block of Lincoln Drive Monday and said a purple wallet that contained $25 was stolen.
Laptop computer lifted: Police said a laptop computer was taken after a person reached through an open window at a home on the 200 block of West Mt. Pleasant Avenue Monday.
Wallet taken: Police said a wallet was taken from a car parked on the 200 block of West Mt. Pleasant Avenue on Monday.
Gun pointed at woman: A woman told police a man pulled up next to her at Stenton Avenue and Cliveden Street, pointed a gun at her and said "I got you" before fleeing Sunday.
Rape takes place: Police said a woman entered her apartment on the 6600 block of Sprague Street Sunday to find a man she knew there; police then said the woman was raped by the man.
Man takes $10: Police said a man took $10 from his ex-girlfriend on the unit block of East Johnson Street Sunday.
Corolla taken: Police said a 1991 Toyota Corolla was taken from the 6300 block of Cherokee Street Sunday.
Verbal altercation leads to injury: Police said a verbal altercation between two women led to an injury when one of the women rolled up her car window on the other's arm on the 200 block of East Durham Street Sunday, leaving a bruise.
Bracelets, computer taken: Police said various bracelets and a Mac computer were taken from a home on the 700 block of East Phil-Ellena Street sometime between May 9 and Saturday while the family was on vacation.
Drill, tools taken: Police said a drill and other tools were taken from an office on the 6700 block of Chew Avenue Saturday by a man who escaped before the office proprietor's eyes.
TV, stereo taken: Police said a television and a stereo were taken from a home on the 500 block of West Allens Lane Saturday while the family inside was asleep.
Man arrested after stealing from drugstore: Police said a man attempted to steal facewash and body lotion from Rite-Aid at 1315 E. Washington Lane Friday; the man was arrested.
Checks taken, cashed: Police said two checks were taken from a home on the 6300 block of Morton Street May 10 and were cashed for $600.
Window broken, nothing taken: Police said a window at a home on the 100 block of East Sedgwick Street was broken Friday but said nothing was taken.
Wallet goes missing: A man told police he left a neighbor in his apartment on the 300 block of East Cliveden Street May 10 to wait for a friend; when the man returned, he noticed his wallet was missing.
Piece of rear door broken: Police said a piece of a rear door at a home on the 100 block of Nippon Street was broken May 8 but said nothing was taken.
Social Security card, bank papers taken: Police said a car on the 200 block of West Upsal Street was broken into May 8 and said a Social Security card and bank papers were taken.
Piano keyboard, tablet taken: Police said a Yamaha keyboard and an Acer tablet were taken from an unlocked home on the 200 block of East Dorset Street May 6.
Attempted break-in at home: Police said a home was nearly broken into on the 6600 block of Emlen Street sometime May 1 but said nothing was taken.
Radio taken from car in yard: A man told police someone climbed over a fence in his business's yard on the 100 block of East Sharpnack Street and took a radio from a car there May 7.
