Police Blotter: 15 Bottles of Wine, Brass Umbrella Stand Stolen
The following information was supplied by the Philadelphia Police Department. The arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate a conviction.
Here's 14th Police District news from the past week or two. All of the following allegations have been documented according to information provided by police:
Break-in attempted: Police said a man attempted to remove a screen door at a home on the 6500 block of Ross Street Thursday; nothing was taken.
PS3 goes missing: A woman told police she noticed a Playstation 3 missing from her home on the 7000 block of Cresheim Road on Aug. 22; there was no sign of forced entry.
Flower pots taken: Police said two flower pots were taken off steps on the unit block of West Sharpnack Street Aug. 21.
Computer stolen: Police said a computer was stolen from the trunk of a car on the 400 block of East Slocum Street Aug. 21.
Wines, tea set, antique light fixture taken: Police said a vacant home on the 6800 block of Cresheim Road was broken into Saturday and said 15 wine bottles, a silver tea set (with a silver tray), four men's suits, a six-foot tall brass umbrella stand, seven sconces and an under-staircase pillar with an antique light fixture were stolen.
Woman arrested after shoplifting from Rite-Aid: Police said they arrested a woman after chasing her town outside Rite-Aid at 1315 E. Washington Lane for stealing $141.33 worth of merchandise from the store.
Others get away with Rite-Aid theft: Police weren't so lucky in another shoplifting incident at the same Rite-Aid, however (on Aug. 20). Two men entered the store and stole deodorant and cigarettes before fleeing, and police said they weren't able to arrest them.
Three chandeliers taken: Police said three chandeliers worth a total of $3,500 were taken from a home on the 100 block of West Upsal Street Aug. 22.
Sunglasses stolen from car: Police said $10 and Ray-Ban sunglasses were taken from a car parked on the 400 block of Glen Echo Road Aug. 17 or 18.
Computer monitor, other items taken: Police said a computer monitor, a TV, a laptop and nickles were taken from a home on the 6800 block of Chew Avenue Aug. 20.
