I am one of the old-time people who believe a student should be able to observe their 'holyday' only if they are of that religion, everybody else should attend school. And all religious days observed should be made up at the end of the year. This goes for all religious observance days for all kids.

Well that would cause chaos in the classroom - Joe is off this Thursday, Sally and Janet off next Monday and Tuesday, and half of Manayunk is off first day of the new season of Jersey Shore...yeah, that'll work.
