Philadelphia Eagles' Wings Clipped by Cards

The Arizona Cardinals stayed undefeated Sunday by crushing the Philadelphia Eagles 27-6.

The Philadelphia Eagles never had a chance.

Right out of the gate, the Birds were dominated by the Arizona Cardinals, who smashed Quarterback Michael Vick the whole game, slashed through the defense and crushed the Eagles 27-6.

Which Birds might be for real?

It looks like the Cardinals, whose defense manhandled Vick, shut down DeSean Jackson and neutralized Shady McCoy.

This was an ugly one.

And with the New York Giants next and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons to follow, the 2-1 Eagles need to right the ship before it sinks for the season.

Three more turnovers certainly didn't help.

Two were killers, when rookie DeMarius Johnson fumbled a punt (which led to Cards' points) and when Vick held on to the ball too long and coughed it up for a Cardinals touchdown that ended the first half.

Vick spent most of the game running -- but not like he did a few seasons ago when he was an offensive threat. Vick was running for his life when he wasn't taking hits and licks.

One can argue that the Birds could really be 0-3.

Arizona, led by ex-Eagle Kevin Kolb, moved the ball easily downfield. He found star wideout Larry Fitzgerald nine times, who cut through the secondary like it was Swiss cheese.

The Birds D rebounded in the second half, but the offense could only muster two field goals.

Yes, everyone will start reaching for the panic button. And maybe they should.

The turnovers continue to mount.

Missing from action was wide receiver Jeremy Maclin and that might have hurt Vick. At times, it looked like he had plenty of time but the Cards defense had excellent coverage on Jackson and Celek, giving up easy, meaningless yards to Johnson.

The Cards got off to a quick 17-0 lead and there was no looking back.

The Birds were never in this game. They may have gotten on the plane to Arizona, but they never arrived to play Sunday.

The Cards crushed the Eagles. If the Birds play this way next week, the Giants will destroy them.

The Cardinal exploited every weakness of the hapless, "we're really a great Eagles team". McCoy is hardly used and Vick takes another beating. Reid appears clueless and unable to make meaningful adjustments. Hard to be positive about this team.

It was really exciting to see the Helpless Eagles being taken to the cleaners by Kevin Kolb, who is a much better Quaterback than The Dog Killer Vick, and the Cardinals.
The Eagles Belong in the Minors.

I usually don't watch the Eagles but I did yesterday. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Kolb beating the team that got rid of him in favor of a dog killer.

Well said. I can't cheer for this team while the thug runs free and they dump class acts like Kolb. The irony of Kolb being the one to embarass the eagles yesterday made the game so much more enjoyable.

As long as fans continue to fill the seats and Jeff Lurie is seeing attendance high, there is no business case to fire Andy Reid.

It's the same results year after year. How much more can people take? Andy will never change. Anyone can write his post-game press conference:

"We'll go back and look at the films"
"I gotta do a better job"
"They're a great football team"
"I gotta do a better job"
"_______[insert name] is a phenonemal player"
"I gotta do a better job"

blah blah blah

I disagree. He won't be fired. Think of it this way - the stadium holds 68,532 people resulting in x million dollars per game. If people start saying "enough" and that dips to 65,000 people, it starts to pinch Lurie in the pocket. It is then that something will be done. Until then, why would he make any change? The fans flock in every game so there is no business reason to make a change. It IS a business.

It's time to trade away some of next years draft for a couple quality offensive linemen.

Very disappointing game. Mike Vick just looks awfull, holds on to the ball to long and still throwing into dangerous situations. He was lucky to not have more picks yesterday; I fear we are in for a long year.

How many times do people have to see the same thing before they jump off the Vick band wagon? This guy can not read a blitz pre-snap, can not read the receiver route progressions (locks on to one guy), and has trouble consistantly making throws from the pocket because he can't see over his own lineman. Tell me what has he done since cashing that huge check last off season? Look at the numbers. Since last season, he ranks around 20th in QB rating. The sad truth is sooner Vick gets hurt or benched, the sooner we can move on and see if Foles is the real deal. Duck and chuck QBs like Vick NEVER win championships. Even Steve Young learned to play the game from the pocket before he won his Super Bowl ring and Mike Vick is no Steve Young.

I blame a lot of it on Mornhinwig. He has to draw up plays to get the ball out of Vicks hands faster. Since Vick is terrible at picking up blitzes and quick reads he has to go back to Donovan playbook of screens, 5 yard passes, and you have to mix in runs. A boring offesnse but better than sacks and turnovers. Reid needs to take the playbook back.

What happened to the "running game" yesterday? Also the Eagles should know that lucky breaks won't get you a championship, you have play very well.
As far as Andy Reid goes I think he just dosen't care anymore?

Today's noon news...
Coach Reid revealed that Vick is getting hit "Way too much". Really? We hadn't noticed. Maybe that would stop happening if he got rid of the ball sooner!!!

Why must we have live feeds on sports all the time. Remember all those risking their lives for our freedoms. And the men and woman risking their lives everyday for us. Who should be making the money these idiots are making.
