Police have confirmed that the death of an off-duty officer was intentional.
Officer Marc Brady, 32, of Mt. Airy was struck while riding his bicycle near the intersection of Musgrave Street and East Meehan Avenue at 11:31 p.m., according to Officer Jillian Russell of the Philadelphia Police Department.
Brady was assigned to the 22nd district in North Philadelphia, but was off duty when the incident occurred.
He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:05 a.m.
Spokesperson Tanya Little confirmed that the driver was Kareem Alleyne, 35, of East Germantown. Little also said the two men had a history of verbal altercations with one another, but there was no verbal exchange that day.
Alleyne was charged Monday with involuntary man slaughter and vehicular homicide.
Brady had been visiting his children and an ex -- Little couldn't confirm whether it was an ex-girlfriend or ex-fiance.
