A recent fire on the 300 block of E Gorgas Lane could be the work of an arsonist, according to a release from the Philadelphia Police Department

According to reports, an area resident stated that they heard noises coming from a vacant house on Gorgas Lane and smelled what was described as "oily smoke" before seeing an unknown person leave the location and get into a black car and leave the scene.

The witness then reported that they saw smoke coming from the house. Ladder 21 responded to the fire on October 28.

An investigation is ongoing.
