Multiple car accidents took place on Lincoln Drive Tuesday morning during a slightly rainy commute.

Police at the scene closed off Lincoln between Morris Street and Johnson Street a little after 9 a.m., which caused traffic to back up at those two streets as drivers looked for alternate routes.

They said an oily substance had been spread on part of the road, so they were waiting for sand from Fairmount Park officials before they reopened it.

At least one person was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center as a result of the final crash.

Earlier accidents had taken place closer to Wissahickon Avenue. Police said four happened Tuesday morning in the same general area.

The road was reopened after 10 a.m.
