J. S. Jenks Working to Form Fundraising Group

The Home and School Association is putting together a non-profit group.

With budget cuts to Philadelphia public schools, ’s Home and School Association decided to find funding from other sources.

Members of the association, along with parents and school staff are working together to form Friends of Jenks, which will work to raise funds for school programs.

“The aim of the group is to provide some steady source of funds to help develop programs and have money for the school’s infrastructure,” said Haviva Goldman, a board member of the Home and School Association. “With budget cuts, we are looking to create more community partnerships.”

The group is working on putting together incorporation documents to gain nonprofit status, and is talking to local businesses to create partnerships.

Goldman said Friends of Jenks has been in development for several months, and is still looking for more community members to get involved. Anyone interested in participating can contact Goldman at haviva.goldman@gmail.com.
