Trail of the Lorax in Chestnut Hill

  • When: Saturday, Sept. 22 at noon.
  • Where: Germantown Avenue between The Night Kitchen and Carol Schwartz Gallery
  • Why Go: A day-long celebration of Dr. Seuss' Trail of the Lorax in Chestnut Hill. Follow the trail, collect stickers and other goodies and have fun. There will be arts, crafts, storytelling, face painting, cookie & cupcake decorating, balloon art, Green Eggs and Ham, a screening of the Lorax and The Philadelphia Zoo on Wheels.   Stop by The Carol Schwartz Gallery to view an entire exhibit of Dr. Seuss' art.
  • Cost: Free

Free-Cycle Clothing Event in Chestnut Hill

    • When: Saturday, Sept. 22.  Noon to 4 p.m. 
    • Where: 8200 Germantown Avenue (formerly Magarity Ford)
    • Why Go: GRinCH is hosting this Free-Cycle event as part of Chestnut Hill's Trail of the Lorax promotion on September 22nd. Donate your clothing at Valley Green Bank (23 W. Highland Ave.) on Sept. 19-20-21 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. The free-cycle event will take place on Saturday.
    • Cost: Free

    Mt. Airy Learning Tree House Tour

    • When: Sunday, Sept. 23 from 11:30 – 4:30 p.m.
    • Where: Mt. Airy Learning Tree Office
    • Why Go: There are a whole new group of homes scheduled for this years tour. Walk through unique and historic homes. Pick up a map and information at the MALT Office between 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
    • Cost: Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door.

    3rd Annual Art Auction Gala

    • When: Saturday, Sept. 22.  6 – 10 p.m.
    • Where:Mt. Airy Art Garage, 11 West Mt. Airy Ave
    • Why Go: MAAG’s member artists have donated original paintings, sculptures, photography, jewelry, handcrafts and more for this auction, which will raise money to complete the studio's and expand opportunities for MAAG member artists. There will also be a lavish lineup of food and drinks.
      Cost: Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.

    Mt Airy Village Fair

    • When: Sunday, Sept. 23.  11 a.m.
    • Where: Big Blue Marble, 551 Carpenter Ln, Philadelphia, PA 19119
    • Why Go: Come out in the rain or shine for the annual Village Fair at the intersection of Carpenter Lane and Greene Street. This year's street fair features perennial favorites including the pie eating contest, donkey cart rides, the Lemon Stick cart, a "dress like your pet" contest, unique vendors, carnival games and more!
    • Cost: Free

    Third Annual Philadelphia Interfaith Children and Youth Festival

    • When: Saturday, Sept. 22 and Sunday, Sept. 23.
    • Where:  New Covenant Campus, 7500 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA  19119
    • Why Go: Learn about faith traditions from around the world at the 3rd Annual Philadelphia Interfaith Children and Youth Festival!   Saturday, September 22 from 11am -5pm.  Sunday, September 23 from noon - 4 pm.  Theme - R to the third:  reduce, reuse, recycle.
    • Cost: Free
