The man had been recognized throughout the neighborhood.

Police said a man who has been seen throughout a portion of Mt. Airy kicked in a door at a home on Crest Park Road after the home's resident refused to let him inside.

The man, according to police, heard a knock on his door on the 300 block of Crest Park Drive April 23 at around 1 p.m. When he opened it, he saw the man, who was wearing a blue longsleeve shirt and blue jeans and had a right forearm tattoo of a green circled shape.

Police also said he was 5'6" to 5'8" and weighed about 135 to 140 lbs. The resident told police he had seen the man in the neighborhood before.

When the man approached the resident, according to police, the resident shut the door on him. But the man then kicked in the door.

The resident went downstairs and locked himself in a bathroom. When he came out, police said, the man was gone.

Nothing appeared to have been taken during the break-in, according to police. Two sets of prints were lifted from the scene.
