Councilman Kenney to Chick-Fil-A: "Take a Hike"
The Philadelphia Councilman at-large wrote a letter to the president of Chick-Fil-A regarding the company's stance on same-sex marriage.
At-large Councilman Jim Kenney did not hesitate to take a stand in the controversy over the fast food giant Chick-Fil-A. The company's president, Dan Cathy, took his own stand recently against same-sex marriage.
See Cathy's remarks on the matter here.
The company's stance has received some backlash since the issue came to light. Philadelphia at-large Councilman Jim Kenney was among those who expressed their disappointment with Chick-Fil-A, in a letter addressed to Cathy:
"As an American you are legally entitled to your opinion, regardless of how insensitive and intolerant it may be, but as 21 fellow American and an elected member of Philadelphia City Council; I am entitled to express my opinion as well. So please - take a hike and take your intolerance with you. There is no place for this type of hate in our great City of Brotllerly and Sisterly Affection," Kenney wrote.

What do you think of Kenney's letter? Do you agree or disagree with his stance? Tell us in comments.

I totally agree with the Councilman. Chik-Fil-A's owner has a right to his opinion and I have a right not to shop at his establishment. I don't patronize a number of places because of the beliefs and/or practices of the business and/or the people who own the business. I have never been in a Walmart and I have never had a Chik-Fil-A and there have been a number of other businesses I have boycotted. I also will not buy anything sold by the Koch Brothers such as Georgia- Pacific lumber, Dixie Cups, Lycra, Stainmaster carpet and Brawny paper towels. I wish more people would do the same. Right on Councilman Kenney!

kenney is absolutely wrong and a disgrace, telling him to take a hike is one thing, telling him to basically not have a business in philly is discrimination, pleasde please lets try to vote kenney out of office, so he can take a hike,

I will continue to patronize Chick Fil A. They have a right to their opinion.

Of course they do...
...and free-thinking people have a right to voice opposition to that opinion. Discrimination is bad business - Chick Fil-A will recognize this, or accept the fallout of reduced profits.
But I can already hear the rally of right-wing zealots coming to the defense of Chick Fil-A. I can see obese Bible-thumpers having an "Eat-in" hahahahaha

Hey, Roxborough Area Man. Have you ever been to a Chic Fil-A? My guess is no!
"Chick-Fil-A" does a substantial amount of good for family and community. Not all "obese Bible Thumpers". One individual's belief does not determine the opinions of the entire company or its employees and patrons. I for one will be glad to patronize the establishment. You obviously have your opinion of who eats at Chick-Fil-A. Next time you are near one, check it out. You may be pleasantly surprised. Try going into one. You may be surprised at how friendly they are! Not too many places you find that these days!

I've been there, a few times - it's average fast-food, nothing more or less.
I bet less people will eat there though - and I look forward to the "Kiss-in" planned - what a great protest idea.
