Chestnut Hill Hosting 'Hoops Madness'

The Chestnut Hill Community Association will be hosting a basketball tournament for kids in honor of March Madness.

In the spirit of March Madness, the Chestnut Hill Community Association will be hosting a three-on-three ‘Hoops Madness’ tournament at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy on March 23.

The tournament for kids ages 6-18 will include a three-on-three tournament as well as a three-point and foul shooting contests.

“I think it could be a good long-term event for us,” said association president Brien Tilley.  “We’ve contacted all the schools in the area and all the sports associations.”

Tilley added, “We should get a good turnout.  It should be fun.”

Tilley also said that the association has not had a hard time finding sponsors for the event.  He said that several local businesses are on board including the Chestnut Hill Hospital, Cosimo’s Pizza, McNally’s Tavern and Chestnut Hill Sports.

“We’re trying to get parents and kids involved,” Tilley said.  “We want to keep the kids moving, and we want the parents to participate in the shooting contests.”

The “Hoops Madness” tournament will take place on Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.
