Popcorn Recalled For Possible Listeria Contamination

GIANT pulled Indiana white cheddar popcorn off its shelves after the recall was announced.

GIANT Food Stores and MARTIN’S Food Markets, following a recall by
Dale & Thomas, announced it removed from sale ready-to-eat bags of Indiana white cheddar popcorn due to possible contamination by listeria monocytogenes.

No illnesses have been reported to date. Customers who have purchased Dale & Thomas Indiana white cheddar popcorn, UPC 84357100078, 9 oz. should discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipt to
GIANT/MARTIN’S for a full refund.

Listeria is a common organism found in nature. Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease. Healthy people rarely contract listeriosis. However, listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Listeriosis can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths, as well as serious and sometimes fatal infections in those with weakened immune systems, such as infants, the elderly and persons with HIV infection or undergoing chemotherapy.

Consumers looking for additional information on the recall may call Dale & Thomas customer service at 1-866-940-7936. In addition customers may call GIANT/MARTIN’S customer service at 1-888-814-4268 for more information.

Mildred, are you defending junk food right now - in this country? The number of severely obese americans rose 70% in the last ten years...they obviously aren't smart enough to have any self-control, I don't think 'scaring' them would work.
