On Saturday, October 20, Friends of Allen Lane Station, a neighborhood group organized to care for the grounds around the station, sought donations to help rescue the pin oak.  This tall tree in the plot between the sidewalk and the driveway was planted many years ago by a former resident of Cresheim Road.  The tree has suffered from neglect and from the compacting caused by construction crews during the two-year rebuilding of the station platforms and crossover. Scheckman Tree Service has pruned and fed the tree.  Generous friends and neighbors gave enough money to guarantee future care for this stately tree.
