Request for Funds for Work on Allen Lane Train Station
An outgrowth of the Mt. Airy-Nippon-Bryan-Cresheim Town Watch is the Friends of the Allen Lane Train Station.
For the past two years, we have been meeting with SEPTA regarding serious issues with the landscaping. One of the issues is the condition of the large pin oak tree in the parking lot, which was heavily damaged during the reconstruction of the ramps/platforms not long ago.
Our negotiations with SEPTA have thus far proven to be unsatisfactory. Hal Rosner, an arborist at Shechtman Tree Care, has donated much time to prune and mulch the tree.
However, much more work is necessary to revive the tree to good health as well as to address other pressing landscaping problems.
We are asking riders of the train, patrons of High Point (in the train station), and neighbors in general to help defray the cost of this work, which will benefit the community.
On Saturday, Oct. 6, please come to the station during Mt. Airy's Blocktoberfest--we will be there with a donation jar.
