Only one $10,000 “Philly’s Future” Scholarship Award is being awarded by Philly Ad Club in 2012 out of a total of $40,000 in scholarships being given to 10 students.
The “Philly’s Future” Scholarship Awards are presented annually to students who demonstrate high personal, professional and academic achievements. Each student was nominated by a professor from his or her college or university. 17 total candidates, all juniors, are nominated from as many Academic Member Colleges/Universities across the greater Philadelphia area who have demonstrated excellence in academic, professional and personal excellence.
Alan Tempest, Executive Director of Philly Ad Club and one of four judges, said about Encarnado, "The judges found Alexus to be an outstanding candidate exhibiting high academic achievement and a very confident ability to communicate her interests through her speaking skills, as well as tremendous art and design capabilities." Tempest added, “In addition, this is by far the largest amount we have ever been able to give in scholarship grants, and we are thrilled to be able to make a difference in the lives of so many students.”
President Bruce D. Wartman of Hussian School of Art is very proud that one of their students will receive such an outstanding scholarship. He said, “Alexus is one of those students that has always been a standout for us. She not only exhibits excellent talent and dedication to her studies, she is so enthusiastic about her work that she participates in many extra-curricular school projects. She is most deserving of this honor.”
Encarnado is overwhelmed by this scholarship. She said, "I am truly honored to be given the first place level of the ‘Philly's Future’ Scholarship Award. As I enter my senior year at the Hussian School of Art, I look forward to fulfilling my dream of being a successful artist."
The Philly Ad Club believes strongly in bridging the gap between students and the professional world. The “Philly’s Future” Scholarship Awards are made possible by the generous contributions of member companies and individuals through direct pledges, auctions, and other fundraisers.
